Alleys hold many surprise colors and compositions for the artist! Join Susan Ritter at Fuller Art House on Saturday, October 5, 10 am to 2pm, and we will explore painting alleys! Instructor demo will be followed by students painting from instructor photos or from their own alley photo. Pack a lunch.

Susan Bunce Ritter is a contemporary impressionist oil painter living in both Northwest Ohio and Southwest Florida. She has won numerous awards for her plein air and studio paintings in exhibitions and competitions across the Midwest and Florida as well as nationally. Her paintings are inspired by a wide range of subjects, including colorful alleys, small town street scenes, rocky beaches and especially structures in older neighborhoods, all with the goal of highlighting the charm and appeal of everyday life. The effect of light and shadow on subjects is often a recurring theme as is use of bold color with an impressionistic approach.
Participating in plein air competitions is one of Susan’s favorite artistic pastimes. She has been a juried artist for Shadows-On-The-Teche plein air competition 2022, 2023 and 2024 in New Iberia, Louisiana. She has participated in Paint Grand Traverse in Traverse City, Michigan since 2020, returning in 2024.
Additionally Susan is a two-time Best of Show winner for the Ohio Plein Air Society Annual Competition in 2021 and 2022, and was twice awarded Honorable Mention in the American Impressionist Society Online Juried Exhibitions of 2021 and 2023. Susan was featured in Outdoor Painter, December 2020 as well as in Venice Florida Weekly, March 21-27, 2019.
Susan is a member of The American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, The Ohio Plein Air Society, and The Athena art Society of Toledo.Her work is represented by Castle Gallery of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Fuller Art House, Sylvania, Ohio.
