Portrait Demo with artist Jill Stefani Wagner
A special evening at the gallery.
Capturing a likeness of a person from life is a daunting and exhilarating adventure. It’s also one of the best ways for an artist to improve drawing and painting skills.
Watch as Jill creates a pastel portrait of the woman who is the creative power behind Fuller Art House… Dani Fuller! Jill will discuss the steps she takes BEFORE putting pastel to paper, and will explain her thoughts as the painting progresses. She will also have some previous pastel portraits available to view. Questions and open discussion are encouraged. An evening to watch, learn and experience.
Wine and appetizers will be provided.
About the artist
Whether painting landscapes, interiors or figures, Jill Stefani Wagner’s focus is always the “light” and how it affects the subject she’s trying to capture. Portrait and figure drawing are an important part of her process and she attends monthly sessions to improve those skills. An avid plein air artist, she is participates in national plein air festivals around the country to paint the uniqueness of each region. She spends cold Michigan winters creating larger studio pieces…but always chasing the light.
Jill’s artwork has been exhibited in solo and group exhibits throughout the U.S. and is in many corporate and private collections. Her paintings have won multiple awards regionally and nationally.
One of Wagner’s pastel paintings graced the cover of Plein Air Magazine and her work is often featured in their pages. Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine highlighted her work, as has Pastel Journal. She served as Pastel Faculty at the Plein Air Convention for 5 years and also loves teaching her own workshops. Jill will again be faculty at Pastel Live in 2023 and has two pastel videos available from Streamline Publishing.
A designated Master Pastelist in Pastel Society of America and Master Circle in International Association of Pastel Societies, Jill also belongs to American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, Great Lakes Pastel Society, Degas Pastel Society and American Women Artists. Her work is represented by three fine art galleries in the Midwest.
Jill received a B.F.A. from The University of Michigan School of Art. She owned an award-winning advertising firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before “seeing the light” and becoming a full-time artist.
